How to choose colors for your art work

Hello Friends,
I have been getting lot of mails regarding How I do the coloring  of my cards and how I decide the colors and do the shading ..I am soon going to come up with a tutorial for the do's and don't of coloring...till then here are few of my works..and tips for people who are new in the field of coloring and dont know what colors to buy..these are my personal suggestion..

The Colors I use :

Buy Staedtler Luna ABS Color Pencil: Color Pencil

  • Staedtler Luna Pencil colors : these gives you the flexibility of shading both in pencil and water color effect.. Price is between Rs. 600/- to 1150/- depending the no. of colors you want to buy. I have the 72 shades set with me..these really last you for a long time ..My set is 8 years old..only see to it that the pencil does not fall of else the led inside breaks and then u will have a hard time, always sharp it with the blade n not with a sharpener, it will last for long ....more shades means, it gives me more options to play while i am shading. it is locally available at the stationary. so if you are just a starter go for the 36 shades and do lots of coloring practice.

  • Bic Marker pens : these are cheaper marker pens  like Copic markers. They both are Alcohol Makers (means these work on all kind of materiel and blends well with the alcohol blending solution)Bic work equally well. Little expensive on our pockets but if u keep it properly then lasts for long time. (Keep it tightly closed when not in use, never leave it open and unattended )(approximate price in India Rs.2000/- for 36 color pack) but results are really good. They dont even come with refill inks like copic but yet for artist like us ..it works well..These are available with Mansi Sharma and Shalini Mittal in India ..only thing is they dont have more shades and the light color too comes dark..unlike Copic Marker which comes with a blender as well that is used to blend and lighten the color ...

  • and that means with the Bic marker pens u have to make sure of the colors u choose to  use in the art work..Both Bic and Copic are g8 with people who know little bit of coloring and shading.

Paper selection: visit this link its really good tells us a lot about the paper http://www.wetcanvas.com/Articles2/3698/520/

I hope, I was able to help you solve some coloring problem if not all..if there is any thing else you wish to know and ask feel free to mail me at artbugindia@gmail.com
